About the job
We are recruiting for upcoming vacancies for the FLOR Operative role at the Eurotunnel site with Falck Fire Services UK.
What does "upcoming vacancies" mean?
- This means that we don't currently have any active vacancies for the role; however, we aim to build a talent pool of candidates from this process to be next in line for a role becoming available.
- The process will involve attending a competency-based interview with our Site Manager & P&C team member. If you are successful, you will attend a pre-employment safety critical medical with our occupational health provider.
- Once we have received confirmation that you have met the medical standards, you will be placed in a talent pool and contacted when there is a position available. You will then be offered a conditional offer of employment.
- Unfortunatley we cannot guarantee any timeframes for when a role would be offered. We will keep in contact to keep you updated with any developments.
- We may also look to get you in for some training/familiarisation shifts in the meantime (subject to circumstances at the time).

- Ensure high levels of data protection and security at all times.
- This role involves working 12-hour shifts on a 24/7 shift rota.
- The Falck 12-hour shift pattern system is calculated based on Annualised
Hours. This is over a working week of 41.5 hours per week. - To make up the full contractual hours, in addition to the 12-hour shift
pattern on a 30-day rotation, alongside it each employee has a 130 hour
bank – referred to as ‘Benefit Time’ - The benefit time is calculated across a full calendar year, and therefore,
resets each January 1st. - If a person has hours remaining at the end of the year, these will be
effectively ‘written off’, when the benefit time resets. - If a person is absent due to sickness for a shift in the pattern, they don’t
accrue the ‘benefit time’, and therefore 73 minutes is deducted from the
individuals bank time for each shift absent. - All ‘Benefit Time’ is worked on rest days to cover short term absence, core
mandatory training, or any other work-related activity. - With respect to annual leave, holidays are built into the shift pattern, and
therefore set days are not nominated as annual leave - If a person is absent, and holidays are to be reclaimed, the amount to be
reclaimed is calculated at 2.83 days per month (pro-rata for lesser periods) - As holidays are not specified on set days in the pattern, shift workers are
able to nominate ‘cover free periods, which are referenced in the ‘Captive
Time’s document. - As holidays are not specified on set days in the pattern, shift workers can nominate ‘cover free periods’, of 3 x 10-day breaks and 1 x 4-day breaks
break. These cover free periods must be nominated in January for the
current year. - The general rule of cover is that only shifts on their 4-day rest periods provide cover – 10-day breaks are only used in exceptional circumstances or for training
